Eliza Mallouk has been a massage therapist and movement educator for over 35 years. She is also a founding member of Cambridge Health Associates. Originally a ceramic artist, Eliza's first job after college was the pain clinic at Massachusetts Rehabilitation Hospital teaching art to people suffering from chronic back pain. This experience inspired her to become a massage therapist. She graduated from the Muscular Therapy Institute in 1978 and taught on its faculty from 1979-1999. Eliza has been a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique since 1981 and a certified Zero Balancer since 2001. Over the years, she has expanded her knowledge of healing by studying many different modalities including: Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki, Activated Isolated Stretching, Self-Regulation Therapy and the Stough Method of Breathing Coordination.
Eliza has been a devoted dancer since 2005 and trains regularly in modern, ballet and improvisational movement. She is a member of the local modern dance company "The Elders Ensemble of Prometheus Dance,” and co-producer of "Across the Ages Dance Project", which hosts a yearly show featuring an intergenerational ensemble of dancers.
"Each person is unique - growing learning, and healing in their own unique way. Over the years, I have learned to trust in each person's capacity for change when given the appropriate interventions. I see myself as a teacher and a guide, using touch, words and other skills to lead each person towards increased health, awareness and physical and emotional ease."
"I was feeling hopeless and increasingly limited - I'd been in pain for a long time. Eliza calmed me down. She showed me that there were many choices I could make and helped me to see that while my body might take a while to heal, I COULD heal and I could learn a lot in the process." - Ann P.
"I didn't know I could feel so good after only two sessions. It’s a relief to establish a relationship to my body that isn’t focused on pain." - Allison J.
“It’s hard to find hands as strong and gentle as Eliza’s. I’m lucky to have found her.” - J. H.
"I learned about posture, about how to use my body with ease which helped eliminate my pain, reduced my stress, and freed up energy so that I could enjoy more." - Andrew S.
