Kate Rivera

Kate Rivera is an integrative bodyworker, somatics educator and co-active life-coach in private practice since 1975. Kate began her practice by offering massage therapy, stress-management and sensory awareness training. Over the years, Kate continued to evolve as a practitioner, studying, teaching and training other types of therapy and bodywork in the U.S. and abroad. She has since expanded her practice, offering Facial Rejuvenation and Co-Active Coaching in addition to Massage and Integrative Bodywork. Kate's work is deeply influenced by her practice and study of mindfulness, and the neuroscience of change and decision-making. She has been featured on an episode of WGBH's "Nova" series, that explored the benefits of massage and the importance of human touch.

Kate is also a dedicated leader and community organizer. In the early 1970’s she co-founded the collaboratively-run Ananda Center for the Healing Arts in Cambridge, MA, a pioneering business of its time. Later she was the Staff Supervisor at Waddington’s Massage Therapy Center, Head Coach and Director of Therapeutic Services at Wellspace Fresh Pond, and Head Coach of the Leadership Team at the post-Katrina New Orleans Healing Center .

Treatment Philosophy

“I am continually caught by the power and magic of the human body - the crucible in which integration takes place. My work is also deeply influenced by my mindfulness practices and by studying the neuroscience of change and decision-making.”
