M.S.W., Simmons College of Social Work, 1997
Katherine Akagi is a psychotherapist who has been specializing in Solution Focused Therapy for adults and adolescents for fifteen years. She received her Masters degree from Simmons College of Social Work in 1997. In 1999, after completing two years of additional clinical training, she received her independent clinical license to practice psychotherapy.
"I would describe my therapeutic style as collaborative. While some clients find it helpful to talk with only minimal feedback from the therapist, I approach sessions in an interactive way. I offer real dialogue to my clients and suggestions for achieving optimum results. Understanding that people are doing the best they can, even if their lives are not unfolding the way they had hoped, is a central part of my practicing philosophy."
