Shiatsu, Herbs and Self Care Consults
Whether you come for shiatsu, herbs or a self care consult, we'll first do a thorough health history and assessment. I enjoy sharing my observations and the ideas of traditional Chinese medicine and am highly responsive to client's unique needs. I also enjoy working with people from all walks of life, deeply respecting each client's very personal relationship to health and healing. Some of the concerns clients come for include low back, shoulder and neck injury, low energy or mood, insomnia, gyn and menopausal issues, digestive complaints, fibromyalgia, emotional trauma and chronic pain. Many shiatsu clients also come for the shear benefits of relaxation, stress reduction and general well-being. I truly feel the synergy of shiatsu and herbal therapies, along with an individuals efforts to care for themselves, are a very powerful healing combination for body and soul.
I'm a graduate of The New England Center for Oriental Bodywork Therapy, The Herbal Foundations Apprenticeship program of Heartsong Farm and Rosemary Gladstar's Science and Art of Herbology program. I've practiced in various settings including the AIDS Care Program in Boston and Charles River School of Shiatsu for 7 years. I enjoy teaching and offer workshops such as Shiatsu for Children, Stronger Immunity Naturally and Gentle Spring Fasting. Over the pass 10 years, I've continued to receive inspirational training in both shiatsu and herbal therapies via the Annual Conferences of the AOBTA (American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia) and the Annual International Women's Herbal Conference.
I am a fully certified practitioner by the AOBTA, a member of United Plant Savers, the North East Herbal Association and Paul Gore Community Gardens. Prior to my shiatsu career, I worked locally for 12 years in K-5th grade arts education. As a long-time resident of Jamaica Plain, I am a true lover this neighborhood's commitment to community, diversity and celebration.
