What is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is a thought-provoking creative process that inspires you to maximize your potential. The process is focused on helping you identify and achieve goals that lead to a living a meaningful and authentic life.
Coaching is about YOU – what you want, what you need and what you strive for to make REAL CHANGES.
Although you are ultimately responsible for taking the actions necessary to achieve your goals, your coach is always there, in your corner, looking outward with you toward the future you want.
Both research and common sense tell us that as human beings, we are most deeply satisfied by incremental progress towards a meaningful goal, freely chosen. Development of this goal begins to happen when clients clarify what is of highest value and commit to creating the life they want based on those values. By helping define what is most meaningful, Life Coaching helps you move from aspiration to action to achievement of that goal.

What to Expect from Your First Session
Your first full coaching session can be either in person or by phone. Most coaching is done by phone, but that is determined by coach and client beforehand. In either case, you will have already worked with your coach to prepare for your session.
The first step to explore your interest in coaching is to schedule a complimentary thirty-minute introductory call. Before the call you will receive by email a few simple forms for you to fill out and return to the coach.
These forms give you a chance to take a look at your life, as you are living it now, and think about what areas you would like to enhance or change. This should take about fifteen minute or less. Using the information on these forms, you and the coach choose a topic that you would like some immediate help with and do a simple brief coaching session. You will then have an experience of life coaching, not just information about life coaching.
You’ll have a chance to ask any questions that will help you to understand coaching better and to determine if this modality is likely to provide the help you want. You’ll talk about what you can expect from your coach and what your coach will expect from you throughout a coaching partnership.
Having a better sense about life coaching, you can then schedule a ninety-minute Foundational Coaching session.
At this Foundational Coaching session, we will work on the goals you specifically identified as important. And we will begin to design together the coaching relationship you need and want. Some of the areas usually covered during the first few sessions are:
- What’s working well in your life and what could be working better
- What’s most important for you to get from life coaching
- How to couple your passion to your strengths and talents to create the life you want
At the end of the Foundational Coaching session you will have learned more about yourself and what you need and want. You will have greater understanding and a deeper awareness of the questions you have identified. And hopefully, will also have gained both a deeper awareness of, and a deeper curiosity about Life Coaching and how it can help you have a fulfilled and joyous life. At this point, you can chose to commit to a series of coaching sessions designed to lead you to achieve your goals and highest potential.
